The newspaper was first published in China. “The Indian Gazette” published in 1774 was first printed newspaper of the sub-continent.
The first Bengali newspaper was the “Somachar Dorpon”. There are many kinds of newspapers in Bangladesh. They are dailies, weeklies, quarterlies, monthlies, pictorials etc.
Ittefaq, Jonokontho, Jugantor, Dainik Bangla, Azad, Inkilab, Songbad, Vorer Dak, Amader Somoy, Bangladesh Protidin, Sokaler Khobor, Manobjomin, Vorer Kagoj, Bangladesh Observer, Bangladesh Times, Daily Star, Independent etc are the main daily newspapers in Bangladesh. Bicitra, Bortoman, Dinkal, Chaya Chando are the main weekly magazines in Bangladesh.
Newspaper is very useful to all sections of people. It helps people to express their opinions. We can’t think of modern world without it. It is a looking glass of the modern world. The more we read newspaper, the more we can acquire knowledge. So we should read newspaper regularly.
